For certain boats, you may need to take out a separate insurance policy for the motor. While this may cost you more money each month, the cost of a new motor can be several thousand dollars. If you are taking out an insurance policy that includes motor coverage, make sure that the coverage is detailed as there are many parts to the motor. While some of these parts will be covered, there are insurance policies that do not cover everything.

Rebuilt motors usually work just as well as newer motors, but insurance companies usually do not offer the same amount of insurance.
Having the right amount of insurance depends on the age of the boat, parts, and what the owner feels comfortable with. If you feel you need more insurance, you can always purchase extra. Boat insurance motor is a good idea, especially if you have an older motor.
